Terms of service
Updated August 27, 2026
These terms set out the basis on which you use aboutwatercolour.org and the About Watercolour subscription. By subscribing, you agree to them.
Who provides the service
About Watercolour is based in New Jersey, United States. You can reach us at kazartapp@gmail.com. We will supply a postal address on request where one is needed for a formal notice.
What the subscription includes
A subscription gives you access to a library of watercolour video lessons for personal, non-commercial viewing. The library grows and changes over time: lessons may be added or removed. We do not promise that any particular lesson will remain available indefinitely.
Some lessons are marked free and can be watched without a subscription.
Your account
You need an account to subscribe. Signing in works through a one-time link sent to your email address — we store no passwords. Keep control of your email account: whoever receives that link can reach your account.
Accounts are personal. Do not share access with anyone else.
Payment and automatic renewal
A subscription is taken on one of the plans shown on the membership page and renews automatically — monthly or annually, depending on the plan — until you cancel. Payment is taken at the start of each billing period.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own pages and never reach us.
The price and the billing frequency are shown before you pay and repeated in your confirmation email.
Free trial
New subscribers get a free trial of the length shown on the membership page. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the paid period begins and the first payment is taken.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your Account page. It takes a few clicks — no harder than signing up. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: access continues until then, and nothing further is charged.
Refunds
If you are in the European Union, you have 14 days from taking out the subscription to withdraw and receive a refund. We do not ask you to give up that right in exchange for immediate access.
Elsewhere, we consider refund requests case by case — write to us and we will try to deal with it sensibly. Cancelling on its own does not refund the period already paid for.
Price changes
We may change the price of a subscription. We will tell you by email before any change affects your plan, in time for you to cancel if it no longer suits you.
What you may and may not do with the material
The lessons, text, images and video are protected by copyright and belong to us or to the artists who made them. A subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to watch — and only to watch.
You may not:
- download, copy, screen-record or otherwise save the videos;
- republish the material or any part of it anywhere, including social networks and file-sharing services;
- show lessons publicly, use them in paid teaching, or use them commercially in any way;
- share, sell or rent access to your account;
- circumvent the technical measures that control access.
Paintings you make while following a lesson are yours. Do as you like with them, including selling them.
Your comments and ratings
If you leave comments or ratings, you are responsible for what they contain and confirm you have the right to post them. We may remove or hide material that breaks the law, abuses other people, or interferes with the service.
Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, faults and outages happen, including at the providers we depend on.
The service is provided as is. We do not promise that the lessons will produce any particular result in your painting.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for the subscription in the preceding twelve months. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit.
Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited under the law of your country, including consumer rights.
Ending access
We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms — for example, attempts to redistribute the material. If we do so and you were not at fault, we will refund the unused part of your payment.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email of any material change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If a change does not suit you, you can cancel.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protections your local law gives you.
Before going to court, please write to us — most things are settled in an email.
